Douglas Cardinal’s vision has profoundly influenced how Canadians understand the relationship between architecture, land, culture, and memory. It was a privilege to meet with Douglas, Adoia, Paul Blaser, and Eva Boakye in a setting that reflects the importance of bringing people, ideas, and institutions together. Regus provides an essential environment for these conversations to happen — not only locally, but nationally and internationally.”

OTTAWA, May 2026 Stéphane Ouellette, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Merchant Navy Commemorative Theme Project (MNCTP), and Eva Boakye, representative of Regus, were honoured to host world-renowned Canadian architect Douglas Cardinal, his wife Adoia Cardinal, and Paul Blaser of RBM Architecture for an important strategic discussion on emerging project opportunities of national and international significance.

The meeting provided a meaningful opportunity to explore shared interests in architecture, remembrance, heritage, Indigenous knowledge, civic identity, and the future development of commemorative and cultural initiatives designed to strengthen Canada’s role on the world stage.

As a global provider of flexible workspace solutions, Regus plays an increasingly important role in enabling organizations, entrepreneurs, professionals, and international partners to connect, collaborate, and build projects across borders. In this context, Regus is more than a meeting place; it represents a practical platform for innovation, partnership development, and global engagement.

By supporting spaces where ideas, institutions, and leaders can come together, Regus helps create the conditions for projects such as MNCTP and Memoria Global to grow from concept to implementation. Its national and international presence offers an important bridge between local initiative and global opportunity, making it a valuable partner in advancing dialogue, collaboration, and long-term institutional development.

Douglas Cardinal is internationally recognized for his organic architectural philosophy and landmark contributions to Canadian and Indigenous design. His work has helped shape the national landscape and continues to inspire conversations about how architecture can serve as a living expression of identity, spirit, land, memory, and community.

The discussion forms part of MNCTP’s ongoing effort to develop strategic partnerships in support of its commemorative, educational, architectural, and heritage initiatives, including the continuing evolution of Memoria Global, a Canadian-led platform being developed to strengthen remembrance, international collaboration, civic engagement, and public education.

MNCTP’s work seeks to honour the legacy of the Merchant Navy, military veterans, first responders, and all who have served, while advancing a broader framework that connects remembrance with education, community service, mental health, wellness, cultural diplomacy, and intergenerational responsibility.

Through this emerging collaboration, MNCTP recognizes Regus as an important enabling partner — one whose global network, professional environment, and commitment to supporting enterprise and collaboration can contribute meaningfully to Canada’s ability to develop projects with lasting national and international impact.

The organization looks forward to continuing discussions with Regus, Douglas Cardinal, RBM Architecture, and other partners and stakeholders as it develops future projects aligned with Canada’s commemorative legacy and global remembrance ambitions.
